CONTROL TRANSFORMERS

A control transformer is a specialized step-down transformer designed to provide a stable voltage to control circuits and related equipment. They ensure the smooth operation of sensitive products such as relays and timers, especially in the face of electrical fluctuations. These transformers are used in many industries, including manufacturing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), and automation.

Designed to withstand transient fluctuations, control transformers maintain the voltage level in case of overload, thus preventing failures and providing continuously stable power.

OMSAN control transformers are manufactured under the ISO 9001 quality management system, with CE certification, and have power ratings from 5 VA to 10 kVA and AC voltages up to 1100 V. Thanks to their compact design, they offer high power density and exhibit very good tripping behavior due to reduced starting currents.

Our control transformers are designed in accordance with EN (IEC) 61558-2-2 and therefore meet the requirements of the safety standard for machinery, providing continuous power even during short-term overloads. They are manufactured in combination as isolation transformers or safety isolation transformers and therefore comply not only with EN (IEC) 61558-2-2 but also with EN (IEC) 61558-2-4 or EN (IEC) 61558-2-6.

         ROLE IN INDUSTRIAL MACHINERY

Control transformers provide stable power to components such as relays, solenoids, and timers, which are vital for the precise control of automated processes. For example, solenoids require a consistent voltage to activate motion controls, while relays facilitate circuit switching, and timers support operational sequencing.

Control transformers isolate control circuits from electrical interference, ensuring reliable performance in precision-focused environments, especially including robotics and computer numerical control (CNC) machines.

         VOLTAGE REGULATION AND STABILITY

Control transformers provide a consistent output voltage even amidst fluctuations in input or load conditions. This voltage regulation is crucial for the reliable operation of control circuits.

Control transformers can respond quickly to load changes, minimizing voltage drops and ensuring stable performance in industrial systems.

        PREVENTING OVERHEATING AND MANAGING OVERLOADING

In addition, control transformers reduce the risks of overheating and overloading by providing a stable voltage suitable for system requirements. Overloading can cause damage and imbalance, which may necessitate adding protective devices, such as circuit breakers, to the system. Dropping output voltage due to a drop in input voltage can cause equipment failures. To prevent these problems, control transformers should be preferred over standard single-phase transformers.
