Control Type Transformer
A control transformer is a specialized step-down transformer designed to provide stable voltage to control circuits and associated equipment. Their reliability is essential for adequately functioning sensitive components, such as relays and timers, particularly during electrical fluctuations. These transformers are critical across multiple industries, including manufacturing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), and automation.

Engineered to endure transient surges, control transformers maintain optimal voltage levels during high-load conditions, thus preventing equipment malfunctions and ensuring ongoing operational stability.

OMSAN control transformers are manufactured under a CE-certified quality management system with 5 VA to 10 kVA power values and up to 1100 V AC voltage levels. Thanks to their compact designs, they provide high power density and exhibit excellent switching behavior due to reduced inrush currents.

OMSAN control transformers are designed by EN (IEC) 61558-2-2, and therefore, they meet the safety standard requirements for machinery and provide continuous power even during short-term overloads. They are produced as a combination of an isolation transformer or safety isolation transformer and, therefore, comply not only with EN (IEC) 61558-2-2 but also with EN (IEC) 61558-2-4 or EN (IEC) 61558-2-6.

ROLE IN INDUSTRIAL MACHINERY

Control transformers are indispensable in industrial machinery. They supply power to components such as relays, solenoids, and timers, which are vital for precisely controlling automated processes. For instance, solenoids require a consistent voltage to activate motion controls, while relays facilitate circuit toggling and timers uphold operational sequencing. Control transformers ensure dependable performance by isolating control circuits from electrical interference, particularly in precision-oriented environments, including robotics and computer numerical control (CNC) machinery.
VOLTAGE REGULATION AND STABILITY

Control transformers provide consistent output voltage, even amid input or load conditions fluctuations. This voltage regulation is paramount for the reliable operation of control circuits. Control transformers can swiftly respond to changes in load, thereby minimizing voltage drops and assuring stable performance within industrial systems.
PREVENTING OVERHEATING AND MANAGING OVERLOADING

Additionally, control transformers mitigate the risks of overheating and overloading by delivering a steady voltage that aligns with system requirements. Overloading may result in damage and instability, leading engineers to incorporate protection mechanisms, such as circuit breakers, while meticulously calculating load specifications during the design phase. Undervoltage, which transpires when input voltage falls below established specifications, can cause equipment malfunctions. Control transformers are frequently paired with voltage regulators to address this challenge to ensure consistent output. Proper system design and diligent maintenance practices are imperative to prevent under-voltage issues and guarantee uninterrupted operation.
