Motor starting transformers are used for the reduction of demurrage currents of electric motors. They are produced as auto type and the output voltage value is usually 70% of the mains voltage. The purpose here is to reduce the motor starting current below the nominal value and prevent switchgear such as fuses and thermal magnetic switches from opening.

       They are removed from the circuit after the electric motor takes off. Since they are not designed to remain permanently in the circuit, the duration of their stay (an average of 6-8 s) must be adjusted appropriately.

     OMSAN starting auto-type transformers, as a standard, can operate maximum 3 times consecutively and can be used for starting an average of 10-12 times per hour.
